spring-feelings in magenta

I might be a little weird and kinky, but I think that flowers are very sensuous and mystical. The first time I saw Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings I nearly blushed. The magnolias in our garden have a lot of animalism and a secret sexuality, too. Perfect for spring-feelings. Wouldn’t you like to be a bee?

  1. Ms. O’Keeffe’s paintings are really something to behold. Your photos capture that same feeling.

We spent a few months in Santa Fe ten years ago during the Fall and Winter, and could definitely see what attracted her to the area. We are planning a return trip next month. With ten additional years of camera innovation, I hope to get some really satisfying photos taken. This time it will be Spring! All new possibilities.

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    • That sounds great. I wish I could come with you. Must be so beautiful, specially in springtime. Have a lot of fun and show us your fotos afterwards, virtual hugs, too, Mitza

  2. You would LOVE it, Mitza. It keeps the “Old World” look in so many places because of regulations on what may be done to buildings, even private homes. I love to photograph doors and windows, and Santa Fe is rife with possibilties! Hopefully, some day you will be able to visit there.

    • Thanks Judilyn for your explanations. I’m sure I would love it, I’m not sure if I can still make it. I’m not young anymore and I would need quite a lot of money for this trip. Virtual hugs, have a nice week-end, Mitza

  3. Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings are wonderful, I agree. But you have some marvellous photos here, creating much the same mood Mitza…marvellous!

    • Thanks a lot Sue, it’s really good that you remarked my intentions with these fotos. This means a lot to me, as I get the feeling that I did a good work. Have a nice week-end, regards Mitza

  4. Flowers are sensuous and mystical. Their sensuality is why pollinators are drawn to them and their mystical nature is why we are so drawn to them. Great photos. Magnolias are so beautiful. Blessings, Natalie 🙂

  5. You are not kinky or weird. Flowers are blatantly sexual. I have taken lots of flower shots and exhibited them and I almost thought they were indecent. One woman who liked the photos confessed to being a bee in a previous life. And flowers ARE mystical because they convey the beauty of our Creator. Lovely work!

    • I’m happy to find somebody who shares my feelings about flowers and sensuousness, Ellen. I really do think too, that flowers have been made by the Creator. Just imagine, that they are all made in the golden ratio and we feel that this is divine. Hope you are feeling good, have a nice day, warm regards Mitza

  6. I LOVE Georgia O’Keefe’s work. And your photos do resemble her work. Magnificent. Our sensual natures are nothing to be ashamed of. It is unfortunate, that most societies frown upon open-ness regarding our true natural state of being …. that being sensual. I am getting bolder about embracing this aspect of myself.

GORGEOUS images!!! Thank you for sharing them!!!! Have a Great Weekend!!! Love, Amy

    • thank you so much for your approving comment. It’s good to share things with nice people all over the world. Wish you a fantastic week-end, too, regards Mitza

  7. That’s an especially lovely photo at the beginning, Mitza. Flowers are, put simply, all about sex and reproduction. So it doesn’t make you weird at all to feel that they’re sensual and mystical. Some of O’Keefe’s flower paintings, as you’ve undoubtedly seen, are positively vaginal. And the person who talked about her New Mexico landscapes and Santa Fe—it is indeed a beautiful city and a beautiful region. Interestingly, O’Keefe also painted some pretty awesome cityscapes when she lived in New York City. Many people don’t know about those. Anyway, Mitza, thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my wildflower posts. I usually do abstracts, but here in southern Illinois we’ve been waiting a long time this year for spring!

    • Thanks for your long comment. I felt the same regarding Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings like you. I have seen some landscape paintings, too, which I liked a lot, but the cityscapes I haven’t seen yet. It was a pleasure visiting your blog, which I did today. Hope to see some more from you and wish you a Happy Easter and that spring will come soon. Regards Mitza

  8. Lovely photos. And I agree flowers can be extraordinarily sensual. I was born in South American and flora and fauna you find near the rain forest region of the country are extreme in their sensualism. Happy Easter and thanks for liking my rather odd blog.
